Text has often been a strong component of my quilt designs. As a teenager in the 80’s, I visited the MCA in Chicago, where I was influenced by the work of Holzer, Kruger, Basquiat, Haring and Warhol. Later, I became a graphic designer and a comic book artist. After moving to San Francisco, I began taking pictures of signage, buildings, and images I found on the street, designing my quilts digitally, and cutting fabric by hand to create appliquéd quilts of silk and cotton.
